<< The most athletic Arabian horses around would probably be the upper
level dressage Arabians and the successful endurance horses.

Endurance horses go 50 to 100 miles in 24 hours without suffering undue
physical stress that adversely affects their health or soundness.

Most successful endurance horses are of bloodlines that are not currently
popular in the show ring. Their owners care for them in order to ensure
their long-term soundness, and many are ridden well up into their late
teen years, some into their twenties. >>
Just a real big thank you here for a little bit of recognition well-deserved
by the large majority of distance riders, who in their fervor to see the
country from the back of a hrose, utilize and revere the true qualities of
the Arabian horse of great antiquity - not a knee-snapping, eyes-bulging,
tail-wringing horse who is destined to an over-sized round pen. Our precious
Fadjur mare is 22 years young, and is still going 25-35 milers. I am in awe
of her. Oh, she also qualified at Regionals twice in her career. Oh for those
days when the Arabian who won in the show ring was also the athlete who could
give his/her all on the trail as well! Any wonder the owners of athletically
inclined horses sniff at today's show ring "ayrabs"? IOHO.
