Endurance Dogs

I apologize for starting all the furor over endurance dogs. I admit it--it
was pure subterfuge-- to create an endurance connection in order to
advertise the Jack Russell puppies. Yes, there's egg all over my face.
I own a Jack Russell--actually the ownership is in reverse, and I would
NEVER take her with me when I ride. I doubt if I'd ever see her again. The
same applies to my German Shorthair--they're both big time hunters. My
Australian shepherd cross would stay with me, but he's old and arthritic.
They all live in a fenced in yard and the terrier yesterday managed to
jump/climb the 5 1/2 ft. fence where it meets the gate. I think she's
defeated me--I can't think of any more gizmos to add to all the extensions,
hooks, and snaps. I've even tried the harness type thing that is supposed to
keep a dog from jumping. WRONG!
I agree that dogs have NO PLACE on an endurance trail, and should
definitely be tied in camp. I don't like to ride with my friends' dogs
either--my horses are pretty dog-proof, but I'm always scared the dog will
get stepped on.
I promise not to try to pull a fast one on the Digest again. L. Riedel
