No no no. In this division -- also called "solo" at some rides -- the horse is
allowed to eat and drink from natural sources along the way. Water troughs for
the use of solo division riders are provided at vet checks, and hay is provided
if there is no natural grass available. If you want your horse to have grain,
you must carry it with you.

On some rides non-participating residents put out buckets of water for the
horses; it is usually OK for the solo division horses to drink from these.

Most rides will allow a rider to drop out of the solo division but continue in
the open division if something happens where he must accept assistance -- such
as a second thrown shoe when the rider carried only one Easyboot.
