I love to take my dogs out on trail with me, or I should say my dogs
LOVE it so much that I am happy to oblige. I would never take them to a
race, too much for me to concentrate on.
Unfortunately my dogs don't follow behind me on the trail as they are
trained hunting dogs who are way out in front or to the side or running
full blast to catch up after making sure nothing was hiding in the
bushes. They have definately helped de-spook my horse from noises in the
brush and moving bushes. My horse knows now that one of the dogs will
pop out of that bush.

My next dog I will not train it for bird hunting because I want a dog to
follow behind me calmly. When I ride now my dogs probably run 4 miles
(zig zag style) to my one mile of straight trail. They obviously get
tired a lot faster then if they just followed me.
