Hi everyone,
I now have more accurate results from the Old Dominion 100..but first...

...another ride footnote: John Crandell III, showing the way with a group of
front runners, came upon a place in the trail that had been vandalized -- some
folks had taken all of the ribbons off a turn along the trail going up Hayburn
Gap and placed them going DOWN the trail on the other side! A lot of folks
missed the turn and were stumbling around wondering what to do next when they
turned around and saw the IAHA orange ditty bag that John had taken off his
horse and staked in the ground to mark the turn, averting a major disaster.

And while I'm at it, a few personal kudos. The "Prince of Running Bear," Teddy's
friend Ed, spent at least two hours hand-stitching a near-broken surcingle on my
Sports Saddle that was causing one stirrup to hang lower than the other (thanks
to Ann Pfeiffer of Animal Tacker for supplying the needle and thread!). The
stitching held the stirrup leather steady throughout the ride. Thanks also to
Jeanine at Sportack for overnighting me riding britches and boots that fit
perfectly and made it through the entire 100 miles without pinching or chafing.
Thank you, Karen Chaton, for rushing me a sports saddle cover (it arrived just
as I was leaving for the ride -- didn't get it together in time but it's almost
too beautiful to use anyway!). A big hug to Teddy of Running Bear for all-around
support and great products. And my admiration and gratitude to TTEAM
practitioner Joyce Anderson for new Cloud Nine inserts (fabulous protection --
not a hint of soreness all day or the next) plus her magic TTouch on me and my
mare the night before the ride. Thanks, Emily Richardson, for pitching in to
help at Jones (68 miles) when I was lightheaded, and thank you Roger Rittenhouse
for helping me overcome "DID" -- distance-induced delirium -- at McCoy's Ford at
87 miles. I thought about you coming down the other side of Sherman's Gap. Thank
you everyone!!! A real team effort!
