Knees & TEXAS RIDES

Hi!!! Darolyn Butler here. In addressing the knee issue....When I
first started endurance riding (some 16,000 miles ago), my knees were
already bad. The 3rd 50 miler I did, I literally could not walk
afterwards due to internal knee pain, nevermind the abrasive issue
(which also existed). Thought to myself "Love this sport, but obviously
not for me". Then read article in one of the ride magazine about riding
with more calf pressure. It WORKED! Took months to retrain myself
& even occasionally will slip off the wagon, but a little knee ache
reminds me quickly to get back in proper position. Down hill running
(on the ground), gets me too, so my final suggestion is Professional
Choice knee braces, (incidentally, I do sell them, but they can be
bought almost anywhere). They are absolutely the best, not only do they
support bad knees, they protect them from abrasion as well.
One other suggestion if you don't try the knee supports. Rub a mixture
of vasaline & desitin on your knees, (or any other parts that rub).
This will usually prevent chaffing, & its never too late, even after it
has started, the desitin will medicate, lubricate & make it feel a lot
better. I buy the stuff by the tub (special order) at Walmart. You can
reload it in old seringes for easy carrying if you like.
On & on.....this mixture or the pure desitin is GREAT for any kinda of
saddle rubs or scratches on the horse as well. Don't go anywhere
without my Desitin, & its absolutely one of the things I carry in my
fanny pack.

TEXAS RIDES....the next one is June 21...its a first time ride, but
appears to be very well managed. Its in the west Texas area. call
Jerry Green at (806) 348 7953 for more info. All the fall rides are
great & very well managed. Pretty forrested trails etc.
Happy & Challenging Trails,
Darolyn Butler
