I also sometime use Kerry Ridgeway's recipe since the dolomite has more
calcium than the epsom salt.

1 part Table salt (I use sea salt)
1 part Lite salt
1/2 part Dolomite powder (available at any health food store-it contains
calcium and magnesium)

Add to applesauce. Dose 2 oz (I think) at a time (the size of a film canister).

Works great in my eventing horse too.
