ridecamp@endurance.net: Too Seriously?

Too Seriously?

Wow, lets lighten up! It's summer! No matter where we go, or what we do,
there we are! I can think of many times that someone could have ruined an
experience for me if I had let them.

I don't see much point - in pointing fingers at riders of any specific
distance, etc. A good horseman, is a good horseman - period. If the AERC as
an organization promotes that - along with "To Finish Is To Win", then we're
doing our best to educate riders as to what we hope to see out on the trails.

If we see an act of bad horsemanship, or sportsmanship - then SAY something.
It doesn't have to be inflaminatory, just let that person know that you don't
approve of their behavior. If someone is acting rude, & has 10 other riders
on a ride tell them so - then maybe it will sink in!

Otherwise, those of us who are in it for the long haul - will have to remember
that a positive attititude goes a L O N G way towards setting an example of
what you hope to see, read, or hear from others!

It would be good to limit the criticism, & discuss constructive methods for
reducing the problems the sport may or may not have. I admire the years of
experience & horsemanship exhibited in written form by this group, & still
can't believe that a medium exists that allows us such "instant" contact with
so many interesting people & ideas!

Maybe we should all go out & have a big Ice Cream Cone!
