I delt with strangles many years ago in a young stud colt. I would
suggest calling your vet. Mine lanced the lump to let it drain and I had
to flush the hole with benidine and water for a few days.The stall in
which he was treated had to be disinfected as the puss is highly
contagious. DO NOT give antibiotics as this can drive the bacteria
inwards and it will surface at the hoof. (This happened to onother
person who self treated at the stable) Then you have big problems.
I to was told it is usually found in old or younge horses.They only get
it once.
