I am writing up a series of interesting endurance trivia for the
Festival of Champions at the USET. I will be giving these to the
announcer as well as having them as handouts for the general public.
This is a spectator attended event, most who have come to see the
dressage or jumping or driving as endurance is the new kid on the
block. The purpose is to interest and educate people to our sport.
Any thing this list would like to contribute would be very
appreciated. I will list some examples.
The United States has won the individual gold medal at every
endurance World Championship.
A horse can trot or canter at a pulse of 120-150 for fifteen miles
and recover to a pulse of 64 in less than two minutes.
100 mile rides are often won at a speed of 10 miles an hour or more.
While there is no world record time for 100 miles due the the varying
conditions of courses, Valerie Kanavy rode "Cash" on the South
Carolina 100 in a time of 7:38.
Please e-mail me privately. Thanks!!!!!
