giving shots

I would like to start giving my own shots. At least I think I would like to do
this. I have owned my horse for just over a year now. This is my first
horse and am enjoying very much horse ownership. I have had the vet
out for all of the shots but am thinking about giving them myself when and
if I become comfortable with this. I was thinking about doing this in about
1 - 2 years from now. This will coincide with moving the horse to my
own backyard as we are building horse property and anticipate
completed it in about 1 1/2 years from now.

So my plan is to watch the vet closely and maybe if they are willing have
them let me give the shot with their supervision. How does this sound? I
currently give paste wormer but that has been no big deal. I imagine
there are many more problems that can occur with shots. I am reading all
about it in a wonderful book I purchased called, "Being Your Own Vet
(sometimes)". But I would like to hear first hand from others what they
have experienced.

Thanks in advance!
