1. Just because heat is gone does not mean the damage is no longerr there.
Do give more time off and start slowly. Keep a good watch for ANY heat or
swelling to recur. If you start back to soon, this may recur.

2. Bone spur is probably a splint...means nothing if horse stays sound and
there is no heat. If too high or too low it can interfere with suspensory
ligament and may have to be removed. But, chances are it is a cold
split..leave it be. I.E. If it ain't broke.don't fix it. If you horse is
not lame, don't worry about it.
