I have always had good luck using ichthammol dressing on a stone bruise.
Pack the foot with the salve and wrap a disposable baby diaper around
the hoof, securing it with duct tape. Repeat the treatment for three
days. Of course, if the bruise abcesses, then you should start soaking
the foot in warm water with epson salts. The horse will be as lame as a
goat until the abcess comes out through the hoof wall. Good luck with
