Hi, I'm new to endurance.net, and I am wondering if anyone has had
experience with a horse who pants habitually, even when she isn't
hot. This is a 5 year old morgan mare, who is very forward, very
careful in difficult situations, bold, and practically bottomless, and
who seems so well suited to endurance and trail riding, except that she
pants whenever she is working. She is an incredibly intelligent girl,
who seems to carry a lot of tension, but isn't at all explosive. Could
panting be a by product of tension? Could it be caused by a thyroid
problem? (She is a very easy keeper) Any ideas? This is a horse I am
considering buying as an endurance horse. Obviously a horse that is
breathing impared wouldn't be a good prospect, but I like her otherwise
well enough to at least try to check it out. Thanks for any input you
experts can give me.
