Hi Rae, I made that same trip from Clermont, FL just three years ago. We
travelled 95 all the way to Fredricksburg, VA. Then we took 17 to 15/29
to211, then over the Mnt.near Flint Hill the back way into the 4-H camp. We
stayed in Fayetville,Nc with the horses at an "overnight" stable. They had
decent stalls and were $20 a night. One thing I always liked to do was go
straight thru with out un-loading, but have since learned they do drink and
urinate better un-loaded. Only do this if you are absolutely sure your horse
will load back up well. Please feel free to call me for more info (my # is in
SEDRA listing). We haul horses long distance quite often at Disney World, and
I can pass some of my experiences along to you. Have fun at Old D, it was
the most exilerating experience of my equine and distance career! Take care,
Becky Siler
