<< My personal favorite for boots (although not waterproof): Justin
workboots with the oil resistant sole (not leather sole), in a roper
style. I walk and ride in them all of the time, although it's very
difficult to find them for women. >>

My source for Justin boots (and all the Wranglers a long-legged gal could
wish for) is Justin Discount Boots and Cowboy Outfitters in Justin, Texas.
Phone 800/677-BOOT (2668). Their service is excellent.

Their catalog includes Ladies Western Workboots with Hypalon soles for
$139.95. Of course, they carry the full range of Justin boots in an
incredible array of sizes. Some of the men's come in A widths, and they go
up to EEE.

I see they now make "Sport Lace-rs" that look like a cross between a hiking
and a high-top running shoe. They do have heels, and look like they might
make a good riding shoe. Anyone wear these?
