Kim:
I will not dispute the fact that Al Marah Knight has put some good foals on
the ground that did well in endurance, but they do not predominate. In my
egotistical opinion Hallany Mistanny has put just as many top ten
descendents in the top ten if not more!

What I was pointing out is that I can take a "killer horse" and put it up
against the best of the pedigree papers and do as well or better because of
the way I train and condition. You read the pedigree papers, you look at the
conformation but you ride the horse!!! No matter what the first two factors
of the equation are, no matter how good or even superior, the third factor
is the determining one.

I would bet there are well over 50 world champion quality endurance horses
being ridden this year that will never place in the top ten simply because
of the rider and the riders attitude. Smoke me if you wish but time and
again we have had a top level competitive horse that we sold and within two
years after selling it, it has dropped to an also finished position. It is
not the horse but the owner's way of training, conditioning and riding.

So I still say breed the best to the best and hope for the best.

That's all you can do as far as lineage is concerned.
