Well in true chicken chase tradition, the trails were in perfect condition on
Friday and then it rained that night! (Tina, if you figure out a way to stop
the rain please let me know!) Fortunately, most people made the best of it
and the ride went smoothly, especially considering the number of horses and
beginning riders! We have sorely outgrown our camp in the last two years and
next year we will be using a much larger camp. Saturday we had 116 starters
on 3 different rides. The trails were sloppy but we had an excellent
completion rate. In answer to the negative comments on a letter previously
posted, our vets were excellent! The head vet did CRI's on every horse.
Unfortunately, due to the huge crowd(double the number that had
pre-entered!!!) and the need to get them all fed, we had to split our awards
into 2 different ones. With so many people coming and going, some missed it.
Having a two-day ride changes logistics and with it, many of my good friends
(and newly acquired friends) stepped in and helped. Thanks to the ones I was
counting on....Lela Roby,Susan Philpot,Evans,Roger Blaylock and Greg Mcafee
and to the ones who jumped (or were coerced in to it) Nina Warren,Cindy
Young,Brenda Kenley,jon Crance, Robby Doll and Barb Jefferson.( I know
someone is always overlooked so forgive me) A really BIG Thank you to my best
friend Connie Caudill who skipped riding on Sat. so she could help me with a
last minute trail change and with everyting else.
I just want to say Thanks to everyone who attended and for all the great
complements and thank-you's. We will have a new base camp next year and you
can spread out a bit. CONGRATULATIONS to all riders, here are the results.
