I've made reins and leads from 11mm climbing rope. I used the same
type of clamps that you see on round nylon lead ropes. Sorry, don't
know the right term for the clamps. They have four fingers that are
bent down and around the doubled over rope. I used a heavy hammer
(smallish sledge hammer) to tap the brass ringer over then flattened
them down onto the rope. I had reservations that the clamps were too
big for the climbing rope as the typical lead rope is larger diameter
but as the climbing rope is very dense and didn't compress under the
clamp it was fine. If the rope had been smaller than 11mm the clamps
would have been too large.

Good morning campers,

I have a question for those of you that have made your own reins from
climbing or marine rope:

What methods have you used to attach the scissor snaps at the ends of the
reins?

I have tried various methods and non have proven satisfactory. Thanks.
