Just a note to all that the McAfee Gang is back from Dubai, UAE. We had the
most wonderful trip that you could ever imagine. We were the guests of H.H.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and was treated like Royalty and felt
like it too! Our horse BA Rhett Butler+// was on lease to Sheikh Mohammed
since January and this was the first time we was able to see him! He looked
absolutely fantastic. If anyone ever thought that horses was not taken care
of i can tell you first hand that is very-very- untrue. Rhett had put on
200 lbs of muscle in the right places, his coat was absolutely brillant.
When Rhett first got there they tried different kinds of feed until they
found the one he liked that they get from Holland, and believe me he ate at
every vet check better than any race since we have had him. The Desert
Marathon 120KM was unlike any endurance ride that we have ever been in. As
Sheikh Mohammed is the General of the Army we was treated to a Military
Helicopter flying overhead for the whole race, plus Military on both sides
of the coarse keeping the camels off of the road. We was given a Nissan
Super Safari 4 wheel drive for one of the 100 vehicles that ran along side
of the riders. If the road wasn't wide enough then we went over the sand
dunes, nothing like having a blast while pit-crewing. Rhett Butler was
ridden by one of top riders in Dubai, Mohammed Ali Al Shafar which by the
way rode the ROC and the World Championship in Kansas. Rhett finished 5th
Place and Beau Diddly ridden by HH Sheikh Mohammed finished either 6th or
7th, there was a race off and it was very close. Will write more later or
maybe in AERC and Trailblazer! BOB, LOIS AND TESSA! NEXT IRELAND!!!!!!!
