Feet falling asleep

Hi all! I've been having trouble on rides, just easy trail no conditioning
yet, with the outside part of my foot and baby toe falling asleep. It
usually happens over an hour ride. I know there are 2 solutions, first and
foremost better riding shoes/boots. Then possibly better stirrups too?

My question is did any of you have this problem and what did you do to
correct it? I need to buy riding boots but can't afford to spend $140 on
ariats or something similiar. We also do gymkhanas too so I need something
I can use in both disciplines.

Update on Jihad: He is at the trainers and doing good! We have him bitted,
in proper form with head down and back rounded. He spent 3 weeks in the
training surcingle and and side reins and is ready to move up to saddling on
this monday. He is actually cantering without freaking out now too! Now
that he keeps his head down he is so much more relaxed! It has been an
interesting road we've traveled and I hope he will be able to make his first
ride by the end of this year! I've learned a lot from this horse and from
this list too! thanks all!
