Just when you thought it was safe (i.e. you'd found the almost perfect
saddle...)

The width of the angle at the front of the tree is adjustable but the angle
at the rear of the saddle is not. If you've read about the Saddletech
Gauge, its inventor, Robert Ferrand, says that a correctly fitted saddle
with match the angles of the horse's back at the withers, shoulders, back
and loins and ALSO match the arc of the horse's back. The Wellep adjustable
tree allows for adjustment at the withers and possibly shoulders but that's
all. Better than nothing but still only "almost" perfect.
