Debra, Not all 7' trailers have 102" axles, ours are 96". Many trailer
manufacturers are going to 102" axles on everything because of customer
requests for 8' wide trailer bodies. Of course, it is easier for them to
standardize manufacturing. Be aware that about half the states (Don't
have the list handy at the moment) only allow 102" trailers on
INTERSTATES and some DESIGNATED or COMMERCIAL routes. Until recently, these
laws have not been enforced often against non-commercial travelers. More
places are catching on to this as a revenue source. Please check out the
laws for the states you travel in regularly. If 102" is limited, you can
probably request a 96" axle. You may have to wait a while for the trailer
though.
