High carb feeding might be 3-4 ounces of brown sugar. Giving sugar with a
form of chromium--picolinate or polynicotinate--will aid in its delivery to
the muscle interiors.

At the end of tough exercise, muscle cells are energy depleted and flooded
with waste products that need to be hauled off--if they're not hauled off,
the begin producing loads of free radicals and more damage ensues. A jolt of
energy at this time seems to be just the thing to enable the muscles to clear
away some of the debris and avoid Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS).
