Regarding Sandy's comment on doing John Lyon's work with her 6 year old, I've
also got a 6 year old, full Arab. Most of his under saddle experience he got
the one year he raced. Been doing JohnLyon's work with him as well and it is
great--the man's methods work. I don't have a round pen so have to
improvise, and they still work.
Last summer a friends appaloosa wrapped her around a tree-she spent a
month in the hospital, another friends Morgan reared and went over backward
on her at an unexpected gunshot report--she was fine, but sold the horse, and
another friends TB leaped a drainage ditch and decided to have a rodeo on
someone's front lawn (one of those Truegreen manicured types--it was spring,
the ground was muddy).
I tell them all--don't talk to me about "spooky" arabs!
Sticking with my A-Rabs!
