I also bought an arab gelding for 1200. 3 yr old, greenbroke, green
owner--he had no time for horse and worked 3rd shift, didn't want to be
bothered with phone calls so was willing to sell him cheap to avoid having to
advertise. Sweepstakes winner as a weanling, sire a show and race winner.
"David" has El Paso, Aramus, Nabor, Melon, and Czort breeding. Alas for the
breeders, I understand their frustration--especially the ones who are trying
hard to breed sound, safe, useful horses and can't get a decent price for
them. But in America we have a market economy and we wouldn't want it any
other way. The fact of the matter is there are more horses than there is
market. That = low prices. No one need pay $10,000 or even $5000 (or even
$3000) for a good horse if you know what you are doing and are willing to
look around.
