WOW!!!

What a great convention we had. I think we left everyone wanting more.

Jack Evers gave a really good talk on shoeing. Natural Hoof and how
those principles translate to what we do with our horses. Jack is a
long time endurance rider, and longer time farrier, also does Combined
Training and is a consulting engineer. He's been a USET farrier since
1990. He's also fun to talk to!

Holly Ulyate kept us in stitches with her "David Letterman's Top 10 for
Endurance". She exploited and exploded some common myths and lies and
gave some great advice in a fun way.

The keynote speaker and clinician was Erin McChesney. Erin is an
accomplished Dressage and Endurance Rider. She's won both the Tevis and
the Haggin Cup twice, 1991 & 1996.

First she talked about riding strategies for 100 milers, multi-days and
specifically the Tevis. AND her second address concerned using
classical riding principles in the trail environment. I think everyone
was thoroughly impressed with her talks, and just her in general. A
really fun and nice woman.

Those who stuck around for the riding clinic on Sunday were witness to
more of Erin's skills. All of the riders were delighted and impressed
with Erin's presentation and interpretation. It was GREAT to have a
dressage rider, who could relate to our sport, teach us the specific
basics we needed on the trail. Results in the arena were dramatic! And
we had FUN!

All the riders in the clinic and many of the spectators are interested in
getting Erin back here to put on more clinics. We'll be trying to make
this happen soon. I'll keep you posted.
