Is it wise to hang onto your reins when your horse rears and you're sliding
off his back; I wouldn't want to pull him over on top of me. This happened
once when going down into a draw to get a drink from a creek. I said "Whoa"
and he said "Go" (more interested in a mare on the trail in front of him).
He was starting up the other side and went right on up into the air before I
knew what was happening and I was on my back in the creek--minus the reins.
But thinking "Loose stallion on the trail" I was up like a shot and luckily
got a hold of the easyboot hanging on the back of the saddle. Shows they're
good for more things than one!. Broke a finger but I had my horse and we
finished the ride. Anyway, I'm thinking that if I had held onto the reins,
he would have come on over on top of me.
And out of curiosity, what is a Rhodesian Ridgeback?-- a
dog?----------------------------
