Warm Hooves

In my plan to keep Jas's hooves from cracking again, & yet continue her
conditioning - we're riding. The cracks from last year are now against the
shoes (new on 1/18). No room to put on pads yet, as this would place the
nails lower & into what's left of the cracks. Two weeks ago we went 20+ mi.
on frozen, gravel roads. The next a.m. she had some heat in the front hooves.
We soaked, & did some bute at the Vets suggestion.

This weekend, I put on easy boots. We did just over the same distance, much
softer footing - lots of rain, & warmer temps. Again, some warmth in the
hooves.

This mare has fairly upright pasterns, & wears 0 easy boots. She's about 830
lbs. She had 2+ yrs. of CTR, we started Endur last year.

Has anyone experienced this heat thing? I compaired hers to our geldings, his
were nice & cool. I'm hoping that in two months I don't see new cracks.
Shoer tells me that in 6 wks. we do shock tamer pads!
