This tread about bits, hackamores and vosals reminds me of a funny
story. When I first began trail training on my current mount, Tink,
she would not drink wild water. Just couldn't work around the bit.
She would try but the water would squirt out both sides of her mouth.
So I put her in a hackamore, and back down to the old river we went.
She put her head down for a drink and began squirting the water out
of her mouth. It was evidently a game. It did make me realize she
did not need a bit and so now unless we are doing dressage work she
goes in a vosal.
