Breeding Unsound Horses

Kat,

I feel the same way!! In fact, since I was 11 years old (now 34) and
worked for a stable owner who bred a mare who had navicular. Even then I
knew she passed on traits that would predispose the foal to navicular.
The owner thought differently.
What shocked me the most was information in regards to arabs; that
there are more stallions registered than geldings!!
I find this incredibly devastating to the breed. Only the top
(temperament, soundness, confirmation) 10% of any breed should be used for
breeding purposes. Breeders should breed to IMPROVE the breed.
That fact just tells me that there are more egotistically people in
Arabians then in other breeds. (My un-researched opinion ;-) )
Imagine if only the best Arabians were bred....
