Hi Roger,

I don't know anything about what a Shagya is, other they're from
Hungary, but the sire Oman is out here in California and is written
about fairly often. There was a blrb in the latest California
Horsetrader that he just completed the 100-day stallion testing. The
article said,:

"OMAN, the only Shagya Arabian to take the test in the U.S. has also
passed the performance test and is approved by the Oldenburg Registry,
North America, and the International Sport Horse Registry as a breeding
stallion. The 14-year-old Oman is owned by Carolyn Tucker of Morgan
Hill, CA. Oman's sire, grandsire and brothers have all gone through and
passed the testing in Germany.
'This stallion, Oman, was one of the best Arabians I have seen in the
last few years', said Wassman, 'He was very good on the cross-country
course; has a very good canter and good jumping. This stallion is one
whose type we also need in Germany.'
Competing in 50-mile endurance rides, second-level dressage, jumper
classes and eventing this year, Tucker purchased Oman as a
nine-year-old. Oman's grandsire, Bajur, has been bred to Trakehener and
Holsteiner mares in Germany. Some of the offspring have competed in the
Olympic Games. Richard Spooner jumped Oman over four foot oxers in the
final testing."

I've seen Oman at dressage tests several times and he is a beautiful
mover and apparently has a wonderful temperament. At the one show where
I was paying attention to scores, he won all his classes with some VERY
high scores. Some people don't care much about dressage, I do, but Oman
seemed like a very atletic and really exceptional horse. I know he's
the ONLY Arabian (Shagya or otherwise) to even be considered for
approval as a breeding stallion by the warmblood registries here in the
U.S. So it'll be interesting to see what happens with your new boy once
you work the fat off. I envy you, he sounds like a good one. Good
luck!
