austrailian saddle

I am beginning to round up the necessary gear for a long trail ride(I'm
still not ready for endurance riding yet, but plan to help at local
rides). Anyone have a basic list of supplies to take on a ride?

I presently ride in an austrailian saddle. Is this type of saddle good
for all day riding? One problem I have found with it is that it flops
up and down in the back when we canter. I have tried a rear strap, but
it seems to be akward-slides around alot even when tied to girth. How
can you tell if your horses back is bothered by a saddle? The sweat
pattern seems even on both sides.

Also, has anyone used sports medicine boots? Can you use them all day,
or is it best to take them off occasionally during a ride?

Hannah:)
