Kat & Magnum in So. Cal.,

Sorry, I no longer have your address. You stated you practice dressage
techniques on the trail as you have no arena. Is this with horses that
have gone thru dressage lessons previously in an arena? Are you able
to lunge them and let them learn balance etc at your ranch? I'd like
to move my horse (one and only) this summer to a ranch that is
adjadcent to Pt.Reyes trails (no more trailering...can ride after work
etc) but would also like to take some lessons with him (can trailer him
there) and practice what I learn. No arena or even a place to lunge at
this new place. Some advice on how you successfully accomplish
teaching a horse dressage on trails would be appreciated, either
privately or to the list. There are some flat long stretches at
Pt.Reyes but not a lot.

BTW to some of you who are asking about type of horses one should
consider...I'm a new endurance rider but not new to trail riding my
Morab (Morgan / Arab cross) which is a registered breed. I can't say
enough about this cross and there are some web pages on Morabs you can
look at (just use your friendly search engines).

Lastly, I have a friend from Germany who has ridden dressage in the
arena for 15 years, has her horse still in Germany and she is here for
research for 18 months. She doesn't do any trail riding in Germany. I
let her ride my horse and feel she is responsible and safe and a very
nice person. Anyone in the S.F.Bay area need an extra rider? She and
I may "share" Mystery a little as she can give us lessons and I'll let
her exercise him, but I know she'd like access to her own horse to
either lease or exercise. Let me know privately please. We are in
Marin County north of S.F.

And I lied, one more thing....Mike Maul and everyone at First Step..you
are all doing a GREAT job and we DO APPRECIATE IT.

Oh yeah, ....down Ti, down :-) Take a deep breath, carry on with
your good comments, but be nice already! (Maybe take that toke first).

Wishing everyone a healthy 1997...

Kimberly (&Mystery the Morab)
