Hi Guys, Bob, Linda, Diane,
I have enjoyed the discussions so much about training our trail horses for
rough terrain. I ride alot of different areas here in MO, and have gone to
the Shawnee National Forest where there is alot of different areas to take
your horse. I am very interested in what you all are saying, as I, also, want
this to be something my horse enjoys as well as me.
I have a good buddy who is a veterinarian from Denton, Texas, and he rides alot
of areas in New Mexico on tough cattle roundups. He, also, was asked to be a
judge in the Texas area for the endurance and competition rides. He has
trained and
conditioned alot of race horses, barrel horses, and is working at present on a
half-arab, half quarter horse that he is hoping will prove excellent in the
endurance field. This gelding will go to a friend in Ashley, Ohio, where they
are hoping to get him started as soon as Dr. Leon Self is through training him.
We have the Mark Twain National Forest to ride in, and several state parks with
alot of varied terrain.
I have copied all your discussions and plan to give them to him tonight so he
can study your opinions, and , possibly have one more. I will get back to
everyone in a day or two with what he might want to add.

Fellow trail rider,
