I am a new rider in the endurance world, and I have met a lot of good people
in this sport. I am lucky to be around and to be friends with some of the
older, and some of the top riders in this sport. I believe that large cash
prizes would seriously taint this sport. It would take away a great deal of
the willingness of the older and top riders to encourage the new riders, as
they would be new competition. People would keep all the little trade secrets
they have learned, rather than share with the new comers to the sport. This
would seriously discourage new comers, and we are the life blood of this
sport. And there is the issue of all the people that would seriously over
ride thier horses to try to win. I believe racing for money will cause to
many people to push thier horses harder, causing many more injuries and
deaths to our friends that carry us so loyally on thier backs. Lets keep this
a fun and friendly sport, I would take much greater pride in a winners shirt
and a pat on the back from my friends. Lets keep our sport clean and race for
the pleasure and pride of completing a race with our friends.
