In regards to the tank heaters:
We sell all kinds of deicers/heaters at the farm store where I
work. He carry the drain plug deicers and have had some good comments on
them, particularly the aspect that the cord doesn't hang over the side
where 'inquiring minds' can be tempted. I have seen people use the
reinforced sprayer hose (in the agriculture dept.) as protection, esp. if
they have to go around corners where PVC may not go. Whichever you use,
the metal coil that comes wrapped around the wire is pretty useless. The
intent is nice but it's just too easy to bite through. (well, for the
horses, not me! :)
I was wondering if any of you have tried the heated flat-back
buckets. We just started carrying them this fall and I would like some
feedback for my customers. It's the ones from Allied that look just
like the regular flat-back buckets but with a heating element inside the
base. The cord comes out of the bottom, away from direct contact, but I
guess if a horse was curious enough.........They seem like they would be
pretty handy IF your horses are inside. Otherwise, a stock tank is a much
better idea.

Just curious!
