Hi All,
Just got back from River Run in FL......nice ride. I was pleased
with my gelding and his first 50 miler.
I have a question though about riding pregnant mares in
competition.....is it allowed? Does AERC allow it? I didn't think it was
allowed in SEDRA(which of course includes CTR). I ask this question
because at this ride, it was rumored(don't know for sure), that one of the
mares(in top 10), that did not receive a completion because she failed to
meet the criteria in the given amount of time, was pregnant. I got to
thinking what are the AERC rules on this anyhow......is it different than
CTR.
Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on this.....if it has
already been hashed out just let me know.....I will go back to the archives
and check it out.

HANDY HINT:

ALSO, I found that a good way to attach the heart monitor to the
girth when you have LOST your velcro strap is to use vet wrap. You can
even really secure it by putting one strand of the wrap over the patch as
long as you use plenty of conducting gel(and it helped that the horse was
sweaty!!). We went through MILES of deep water and mud etc and that patch
stayed right where is was supposed to!!!
It is a great item to keep in my PR bag!!
