Synergist Saddles/Saddle Book, etc.

Recently I received a video tape from Synergist Saddle Co and found the info
quite interesting. I had written to several saddle companies after reading
Laney Humphrey's book "Choosing A Saddle For Endurance And Long Distance
Riding". BTW, my education about the "bottom" of a saddle went way up after
reading that....I'd never researched saddles and was unaware that there are
panel saddles, sidebar saddles, and skirted saddles.

BioScan/Treatments
------------------
The video talks about BioScan doing a tour of 100 mile endurance rides sometime
in the past few years and scanning all of the horses. Apparently at the Taos,
NM ride the only "clean backed" horse was wearing a Synergist saddle. What *is*
BioScan? Was anyone at any of the rides when BioScan was? I gathered that
BioScan detets soreness anywhere on a horse's body.

Back Different In Motion Than When Standing
-------------------------------------------
The portion of the video about how a horses back comes up when in forward
motion was interesting. The manuf indicated that Arab backs come up an
average of 1". He was saying that if a saddle is designed for the back as
measured when standing, the saddle will not fit when the horse moves out
because the back comes UP into the saddle. Any info on this?

Saddle Fit
----------
This was the saddle maker I got a reply from that insists on a LOT of
measurements for the rider, too (like height, waist, thigh, width of seat
bones, weight etc). He chisels out an area for the thigh, the seat bones, and an
area from the front which could sore the rider's crotch/ pelvis. Has anybody
ridden in this saddle and is it really comfortable? When you've had a custom
saddle made (by any manuf) have they taken this sort of info into account?

On saddle fit, for a custom fit some companies ask you to measure your horse
using the plumber's tape method..others a plastic cast. Does anyone know what
Synergist's saddle fitting kit is composed of? It is mentioned in the video
but it didn't explain what the kit is.

I'm interested in getting some discussion going about the book I read, the
Synergist saddle and saddles in general. If this is not of general interest,
please email me privately.
