To Dr. Bond re the vosal: Sportack or Australian Connection
(1-800-847-8521) has vosals. My horse 'came' to me having been ridden
almost entirely in a Braided Rawhide vosal. In Oct last year I started
using a simple eggbut snaffle for my lessons and daily riding but for all
my long training rides and endur/CTRs I always use the vosal. As one
reader said, they can eat and drink easily without a bit and it doubles
nicely as a halter at vet checks. I find my horse pulls more moves more freely and is
inthe vosal. I cover the nose piece and 2 small parts under lip with
velcro-closed pieces of real sheepskin so that the ring where the
reigns attach won't rub him when I restrain him.
Good luck. Emily Richardson and Z
