Sometimes I think we feed these suppliments and THINK they make the horse

As to supplements for horses or people or whoever - a supplement is only as
good as the feeding program. Why? Because supplements are "served" for the
purpose of utilization efficiency; in other words, to help the body
(whoever's) to use the fuel put into it in the most efficient manner. That
is why many nutrients work along with another nutrient, and not well without
its partner. And so to spend a fortune on any supplement whilst feeding poor
or not enough feed to begin with is TRULY a waste of money for feed AND
supplement alike. It is better to feed less supplement and top quality feed -
excellent forage, and a conservative level of excellent concentrate. Just
like with people who eat chips and Snickers and fast food and soda who go
home and eat up expensive vitamins and Power Bars (all quality products here,
folks), the supplements seem to be a waste. And so the bottom line is to make
certain your feeding program is excellent; then IF NEEDED for extraneous
activity or gestation or whatever, add the appropriate supplement to the
diet. Remember, more is NOT better - it is at least out of balance and at
worst toxic. Of course, it pays - literally - to educate yourself!
Sandy, who spends a fortune on broccoli, Timothy hay and Dynamite!
