[endurance] Egyptian Arabians

I am thoroughly enjoying the conversation with regard to the Egyptian and
Polish Arabian temperments. I commented earlier on the Polish line from my
limited knowledge, and wow, have learned a few things since! First I wanted
to say that after I commented on my own Crabbett mare being spooky (for lack
of a better word at the moment) I went back to her pedigree and lo and behold
I discovered strong Polish elements on both sides. That satisfied my original
thoughts on the Polish bred war horses. However, I strongly agree with some
of the comments I have since read in that much of the Arabian's temperment is
due to the rider/owner's temperment. There are genetic tendencies and there
is environment. Every horse is different as is every rider. I have seen the
same horse react completely different under two different riders. That may
explain why one person's experience with all Egyptian Arabians has been
negative - that's one person's perspective; one person's interaction with a
particular line. Take the same Egyptian horse and present it to another
person of different demeanor and watch the results. These horses, regardless
of what bloodline they hail from, are highly intelligent and perceptive. Any
one who has ever owned an Arabian knows that to be true. So, someone going
in with a preconceived notion of a particular line is bound to find that the
animal/s in question will rise to the occasion. That's why we are drawn so
to this breed. Their beauty and intelligence rival all other breeds. (Just
my opinion, but I probably won't find many of you out there to dispute that).
I appreciate the book information that has been shared through this medium
as well as the comments. This is a wonderful forum. Keep it up! Joyce.
