Nice to be back on-line again--took a 40-day hiatus because of work. Glad to
see Truman back on-line.

I was at the stable where I keep Chance this morning and was talking to the
stable owner, who seems to know a heck of a lot about Arabs (forty some years
experience in breeding, showing, and training Arabs and that's all she owns.)
Anyway, I remember awhile back (4/5/96) Allen Randall posted an interesting
note regarding color theory and Arabs. I honed in on one thing he mentioned
in particular--Al-Marah Radames lines make great athletes. Talking with my
stable owner, I mentioned I'd be interested in looking at (w/ an eye to
purchasing) an Arab from the Al-Marah Radames lines.

She threw up her eyes and said, "I'd never have an Egyptian. Beautiful,
classic head, but haven't seen one yet that is level-headed. And I've never
talked with a trainer who has anything good to say about the temperament of
an Egyptian."

Broke my heart in a way. I've always dreamed of owning an Egyptian Arabian.
A few years ago, I went to Egypt, and I can still remember like a photograph
in my mind, the sun setting behind the pyramids, casting an amber light over
everything and a cloud of dust rising from the desert from the Egyptians who
racing these magnificent Arabians around the base of the pyramids.
Mind-boggling beauty which I will take to my grave.

Anyway, romanticism aside, and American practicality to the forefront, if
anyone with experience in Egyptian Arabs wants to support or object to my
stable owner's opinion regarding the Egyptian temperament, I'd be very
appreciative of hearing your opinion.
