Kat,
I can see your point about having three saddles to fit one horse, and I can
also see having one saddle fit three very different horses. I have an Ortho and
have used it successfully (meaning good even fit with no dry spots and a
relaxed horse) on literally a dozen different horses.

Unfortunately this wonder saddle doesn't fit one of my horses (a 16H TB - ex
racer with a typically ex-racer sensitive back). The orthoflex saddles have
trees but they are immaterial to the fit since the flex panel rests on the
horse and not the padding under the tree. Provided it is placed on the horse
correctly it seems to work (which boggle my mind since I've sat down and proved
to myself it cannot work - mathematically - I do this sort of thing for a
living - and put it down to ignoring too many second order terms which must be
more significant than I had assumed.) The main thing seems to be cinching up a
lot snugger than regular saddles.

As a solution for my TB I have two cheap Thorowgood synthetic saddles which fit
like a glove (one regular tree and one wide tree - used depending on time of
year). They leave no dry spots and he is relaxed under them. The cost of the
two of them is less than 15% of the Ortho. They are also very light and
hosable.

So from this fence I jump both ways. Have to say though the Ortho is much more
comfy as it was custom made for my butt.

Nicco
