Blood Selenium is a good test in horses, and more accurate than SERUM
Selenium. The whole blood (cells and water) has to be analyzed to be
accurate.

Equine Blood:
Se deficiency: .096-.160 ppm wet wt
Adequate: .170-.250 ppm
Toxic: 1.1-6.3 ppm
newborns are 50% of adult value for adequate

0.3 mg of Se per kg of diet dry matter from either sodium selenate or
sodium selenite is adequate for horses per day....Lynn
