Almost every West and Southwest ride (except the 100s) have a limited
distance ride attached to it.
There's certainly a place for limited distance. Mainly for training green
horses or retraining injured ones. But I certainly see the viewpoint of
those who just like to get out and have a great time riding along with
vets and trail markers. Personally I don't much care for limited distance
as it's over too quickly, but speaking from the viewpoint of a horse
owner who's current steed has spent more time injured then sound the last
4 years, limited distance is a great training medium.
