[endurance] Electrolytes and a lot of drinking/skin tearing still not

Before I never gave my horses electrolytes before a ride. As Love over
Gold is a bad drinker on the trail and very anxious to move on, I tried
electrolytes yesterday on a short ride (40 Miles), temperature about 20
degrees Celsius, sunny.

Mixed some electrolytes with applesauce. Gave him a syringe (100cc) on
Saturday evening, one on Sunday morning, one at the vetgate and the rest
of the applesauce mixture after the ride in his food.
He didn't drink too much during the first loop, but drank a lot at the
vetgate and continued drinking for the rest of the ride and afternoon.
He urinated right after entering the vetgate, again shortly after
finishing and more about 2 hours later. Colour was very good and it was
a lot!

I was very happy having completed a ride again and I think I will
continue to work with electrolytes.

One question remains however. Skin tearing was still not too good (In
your terms a B). Anybody has some suggestions on how come? We have been
cooling with water during the ride too. Love over Gold is as many of you
might know an Achal Tekkiner with a very sensitive, thin skin.

Lari O'Shea or anybody else having experience with Achal Tekkiner horses
having some opinions/ experience with this?

Thanks!
