RE: Panting-Hot Horse NATRC
I am new to NATRC ( not endurance or ctr 5 000m ECTRA/AERC) just the NATRC
ctr. I am sure you DO carry water bottles into the PR check? Fill up at a
good creek hopefully b4 the check. Pull saddle then slowly squirt the water
on him. That took me one vet check to figure out that trick.. One thing I
noted here in Reg 5 (se) NO ONE tells the new rider ANYTHING esp in OPEN..
You have to figure it out for yourself..NOT my way of doing this sport.
Anyway that sure helped my old endurance mare adjust to the NATRC PR chk.
On very HOT humid rides I carry 2 to 4 water bottles just for the horse. I
use the camel back for me. I carry more water for the horse them for me. haha
I was surprised that carrying water into the pr chk was allowed..since it is
you can bet I will carry as much as we can.

Now my next suggestion may bring some bashing, but you may want to or should
try DMG. This stuff really works. It IS NOT a DRUG. It improves the horses
ability to manage O2. It is used by humans for racing etc.. I use it for me.
I can get off and run better. breath slower and recover faster.. It is SAFE
you cannot OD the horse on it. It cannot be found in drug tests. I have been
using DMG for years. Just to be *LEGAL* I double up on Thur, then no more
until after the ride. The body will store it. But I do not give any during
the ride.. because of the *rules*
However since it is not a drug one *should* be able to use it during a ride.
Would help on the multi-day rides.

You do know you cannot use ICE on a NATRC ride OR even ice cooled water, only
can use natural water or what ever mgmt provides.

Well thats my comments, hope it helps
