[endurance] Opinions on Sharon Saare Saddles

Hello All -
I've been lurking this list for about a month now, but I know many of you
from the <old> rec.eq newsgroup, about 3-4 years ago. I used to do CTR's in
the Maryland-Pennsylvania-New Jersey area. I met Mike Maul and Roger
Rittenhouse at the rides back east, and helped out at the ROC and Tevis rides a
few times. Anyway, Shogun and I moved to Sunny Southern California about
2 1/2 years ago, and I finally got reliable computer access again!

Now, to the reason I'm posting (no, not because I'm trotting :-) :
The perpetual saddle quest! One of my new ranch buddies and I have been
commiserating about our ex-saddles by Ortho-flex (yes, we were able to sell
them) and are now looking for the next perfect saddle. Stan, my buddy, went
to a saddle fitting clinic conducted by a Sharon Saare technician. He is in
love with this saddle. They found the tree that fits his horse, and I think
he is going to borrow an appropriate model to go for an afternoon ride. The
problem is that this horse is extremely stoic, and will put up with badly
fitting saddles for months before complaining. And, as Stan admits, he doesn't
always see the signs of poor fit until there is a new white mark on his bay
horse. After the service problems encountered with the ortho-flex folks, he
wants to be sure that the Saare people will be able and willing to work with
him if he should need it.

I have been following the saddle fit discussions, but really didn't see
much mention of the Sharon Saare saddles. Stan would like to know a couple of
things: 1) How is their service?
2) He doesn't compete, he mostly trail rides at a walk (4-5 hr rides).
Would this saddle be appropriate for hours at the walk?
Unless you think everyone needs to hear it, please email me directly,
by June 1 (Saturday night). I'll combine the posts to give to stan, and if
anyone else wants the combined post, feel free to email me and I'll pass it
along.

Thanks in advance
Rosalie & Shogun (formerly of Baltimore, now in Sunland, California)
