I put out plenty of hay the night before a ride. And, I feed grain with a
little bit of bran and Dengie HiFi (timothy/alfalfa chopped up) - and of
course water - in the morning. However, I don't feed a full ration, usually
3/4 or 1/2 ration, depending on how much time there is before the start. I
offer this same mixture - slurry - throughout the day, along with carrots
and/or apples. Hay is also offered, but seldom eaten because my horses
really like the Dengie HiFi.
